The HelpMeSis web site grew from a desire to make Australian online shopping and researching of information quicker, more successful, interesting, enjoyable, enlightening and more efficient. I also wanted to know more about the shops and web sites I would be dealing with - were they safe, reliable, cost effective and bona fide.

Many women I had spoken to about online shopping had, like myself, very limited experience, mainly ebay or purchasing tickets. When I asked why they didn't use the internet for shopping other than that they replied that they were wary of online stores that they hadn't heard of. They also said they didn't feel it was safe, or found it too time consuming to locate exactly what they were looking for and really didn't believe that the goods available online were comparable price or quality wise with leading retailers.

After several purchases of goods online I realised that Australian online shops were not only comparable with the quality of goods but even with delivery costs, were often cheaper than leading retailers. The process however was neither particularly satisfying nor enjoyable. Google searches took me all over the place. Online shopping directories helped but lacked a lot of variety and information about the online store, so locating exactly what I was looking for was still a chore.

The answer - create a web site that I would like to use that takes me instantly to a variety of online stores that I know are safe to use, that will deliver at a reasonable price that have quality products that I would like. So with the encouragement and advice of my sisters (I have 4), my mother, my daughters, my nieces and my friends I decided to create the HelpMeSis web site. However, as you can see if you explore this web site, it is so much more than just a shopping directory. Each site that has been included on the HelpMeSis web site has been handpicked for its quality ease of use and integrity. And It's a site that aims to not only assist women (or anyone else) to have successful online shopping experiences, it also (hopefully) is a useful tool for locating information and ideas on a whole range of contemporary issues.
